1. Do I need optic fiber in my installation? Why I can't make it with copper?
First of all we have to say that if the installation can be made with copper, it can also be made with fiber, but do not happens the same in the opposite way. The copper has a much bigger attenuation that the fiber, for that reason the signals can not travel long distances with copper, and copper doesn't also offer protection to the signal in front of the electric interferences, while fiber is totally inmune to it.
2. I will be able to use the devices of Adilec using my system of data encoding?
Yes. The devices of Adilec are transparent to any protocol of data encoding.
3. Can I have more than a type of devices of Adilec in the same rack?
Yes. The rack that Adilec offers (PAWAL) can harbor up to 10 devices, independently of the function of these devices.
4. What should I choose? Singlemode or Multimode fiber?
The election should be made based on the necessities of our installation. Most of the installations do not need to cover very long distances (usually less than 10 Km) then we can use Multimode fiber without any problem. But, on the other hand, other applications need very long distances between devices (dozens of km) in those cases whe need to use Singlemode fiber.
If you want to know more about the types of fibers, in the Downloads section of the web site we have a presentation where their basic characteristics are commented.
5. How could I know the Adilecs' devices that I need?
If you are not sure about what devies are necessary for your installation and you need somebody to advise you, do not doubt to contact us, either via e-mail or via phone, we will be delighted of helping him.
Also, if what you want is to be made an idea of the devices that you need, in the Downloads section of the web site we have a presentation where some calcualted examples of installations are commented.
6. I have just acquired some devices of Adilec but when I connect them I see that they don't work well
All the devices of Adilec pass strict quality measures before being sold.
If when it is installed, the device do not work well the most probable reason for that is an error in the connection of the unit.
There some examples of connection errors that typically occurs:
7. The red indicator is turned-off
First it is necessary to check that the red indicator is lit. If it is not, what is happening is that the power supply of the device is not correctly connected.
8. The green indicator is turned-off
If it is a video transmitter device, what the green indicator indicates is the video presence in the input. If is turned of means that the video signal is not correctly connected from the camera to the device.
If it is a receiver device, the green indicator indicates the correct establishment of the link. If is turned out it means that the link is not correct, maybe because there is some problem with the fiber or because it is not well connected.
9. Fiber optics connection
Another common error is the connection of the fibers. A optic fiber from a transmitter TX should always go connected in the other extrme to a receiver RX. For example, in a video transmitter and data receiver device , the fiber that transmits video should be connected from the transmitter of this team to the receiver of another team that is a video receiver and a data transmitter. On the other hand, the fiber that transmits data should be connected from the transmitter of the device that transmits data to the receiver of the device that receives them.
10. Data connection
You should check aswell that the data (if it is that the device is a data transmitter, receiver or transceiver), are correctly connected. In our datasheets we indicate the function of the connector of our device. If we say, for example that the pin 2 is RxD it means that this pin will receive the data that are transmitted by the external device and we have to connect the pin TxD of this external device to our pin 2. ALWAYS a Rx pin is connected to a TX pin.
